Constellations in Ink

A dynamic combination of India ink, fine lines and star signs

Night skies lend themselves to ink wash paintings because of the deep pigment and unpredictability of water. To carry out the drawing of the constellation called Cetus, I included a humpback whale floating through the clouds.

When I set out to illustrate surreal scenes, my go-to tools include:

  • Fineliner pens
  • India ink
  • Small watercolor brushes
  • Water

This painting is a personal favorite and I can’t wait to do more work like it in the future.

So, whats your sign?

To keep creative block at bay, I make mini goals. I’ve been working to create new scenes based on astrology each month. So far, each illustration incorporates zodiac based themes and include the constellation. I’m excited to do more!
